We have volunteer roles at both our Lower Hutt branch and our Wellington City branch, with most of our volunteers helping out once a fortnight. You can find out more about the different roles below.
Please note reliability and responsibility are key attributes that we require of our volunteers. All volunteers need to be able to lift 20kg boxes of food and commit to volunteering with Kaibosh for three months. To volunteer with Kaibosh you must be 16 years old or more.
Shift timings (approximate)
Monday to Friday: 11.30am – 2.30pm
About the role
Food rescue volunteers work with the Kaibosh driver on weekday mornings, collecting donated food from retailers and delivering it to Kaibosh HQ. This involves a lot of heavy lifting as you’ll be loading and unloading the truck throughout the shift.

Monday to Friday: 6.00 – 8.00pm
Monday: 12.00 – 2.00pm
Wednesday: 12.30 – 2.30pm
Thursday: 12.30 -2.30pm (start date to be confirmed)
About the role
Working in teams of 4 to 5 people, food sorting volunteers make sure that donated food is recorded, quality checked, sorted and stored, ready for community groups to collect the following day.

Operations Support volunteers work with our Operations Manager meeting and greeting our community groups and helping tidy the food sorting area following the busy weekend shifts.
