At Kaibosh we are working to ensure good food reaches those who need it, now more than ever.
Of the 92 charities and community groups that we were working with before COVID-19, 32 received food from Kaibosh during the lockdown. As charities and community groups have started working again, the number we’re providing food to is increasing.
We are working hard to collect surplus food from as many of our regular food donors as possible. They are continuing to work hard to supply us with kai.
During Level 4 we temporarily paused our operations at our Hutt and Kāpiti bases, and did all of our mahi out of our Wellington branch. At Level 2 our Hutt and Kāpiti bases reopened.
To ‘shrink our bubble’ we put our regular volunteer programme on hold. A small crew of staff and a very limited number of volunteers worked hard through the lockdown to rescue and redistribute food. Our volunteer programme resumed at Level 2, with small teams sorting food.
We have been moved by the outpouring of support from the community at this difficult time. Thank you, it means the world to us!
In the weeks and months ahead we are going to need a huge amount of support. If you are able, please consider making a donation to help us feed Wellingtonians who are struggling more than ever right now.
