Each year brings new challenges to Kaibosh but also new opportunities the 12 months period between July 2021-June 2022 saw this trend continue. With the publication of our regular Annual Review 2021-2022, we’ve been reflecting on the challenges and successes of the past year. Undoubtably the largest challenge for our team at Kaibosh in the past year, has been the increased demand put on our services with the arrival of COVID-19 in our communities and the affect that this has had on so many who were already struggling with the day-to-day realities of food insecurity. We continue to do our utmost to alleviate some of these difficulties through the provision of healthy and nutritious food, to the communities in which we operate.

Would you like to work to minimise food waste and alleviate food insecurity in Wellington? Come work for Kaibosh – New Zealand’s first dedicated food rescue organisation! We are currently looking for a permanent Saturday Food Rescue Driver for our Wellington base who may also be available to cover occasional weekday and Sunday shifts. Saturday driver shifts are from 9.30am to 3pm. You will also join our pool of drivers who may be contacted if our regular drivers are sick, or on leave, on both weekdays and/or Sundays (There is no obligation to fill-in – it is only if you are able.)

Kaibosh Food Rescue has reached a massive milestone – 1 million kilograms of quality food rescued and redistributed since starting in 2008! In August we hit the million mark. As a result, Kaibosh has reduced carbon emissions by 778,460kgs and provided 2.8 million meals worth of healthy, nutritious food to Wellingtonians in need in the last 10 years.

On Saturday December the 16th, Garage Project are again holding their popular Kegs for Christmas event in Wellington to raise funds for Kaibosh and local Christmas Day event, Room at the Inn. Kegs of a selection of Garage Project beers will be donated to twelve pubs and bars around Wellington.
